Searching by ownership
Ownership Search lets you find all properties linked to a specific person, trust, or company anywhere in New Zealand.
This feature requires an active paid Relab subscription.
How to open Ownership Search
On the Relab homepage, click the OWNERSHIP tab in the search bar. This sits alongside the ADDRESS and STREET tabs.
Searching by an individual owner
Step 1: Enter the owner's last name
Type the owner's last name into the Last Name(s) field on the left.
Step 2: Enter the owner's first name
Type the owner's first name into the First Name(s) field.
Step 3: Run the search
Click the teal search icon at the right of the search bar. A list of matching owners appears in the left panel.
Step 4: Select an owner
Click an owner's name in the left panel to view all properties associated with them on the right.
Searching by a trust or company
Type the full entity name directly into the Last Name(s) field. For example, enter "XYZ Holdings Limited" exactly as it appears on the title. Leave First Name(s) empty and run the search.
Refining your search
Adding a location
By default, Ownership Search covers anywhere in New Zealand. To narrow results to a specific area, click + Location and enter a district, region, or suburb.
Current owner only
The Current owner only checkbox is ticked by default, showing only properties the owner holds right now. Untick this to include properties they have owned in the past.
Exact match
Tick Exact match to return only results where the ownership record matches your search exactly. This is particularly useful when a common surname returns a large number of owners in the left panel.
Viewing and exporting results
Once you select an owner from the left panel, their properties appear on the right. From here you can:
Use the Search Keywords bar to filter results within the owner's portfolio
Click the filter icon to apply additional filters
Switch between grid and list view using the layout toggles
Export results as a CSV or PDF using the buttons at the top right
❓ FAQs
Can I search by trust or company name?
Yes. Type the full trust or company name into the Last Name(s) field and leave First Name(s) empty. Ownership Search will return all properties linked to that entity.
What does "current owner only" mean?
When ticked, results show only properties the owner holds right now. Untick it to include properties they have owned previously.
Why does my search return 20+ owners?
When multiple owners share a similar name, Relab returns all matches in the left panel. Select the specific owner you are looking for to view their properties.
Does exact match work for both individuals and companies?
Yes. Exact match applies to any name in the Last Name(s) field, whether it is a person's surname or a full company or trust name.
